back to school

Dear parents or guardians:

I hope all have had a wonderful summer.  School will begin shortly, and I am excited to welcome you all to the Summit School District for the 2021-2022 school year.

My name is Mike Schmidt and I am the superintendent of the Summit School District.  I am very excited to work with you and our students!  Mrs. Beth Hills is our Dean of Students, please contact either of us with any comments, questions or concerns about your children’s education.

School will be starting at 8:10 and dismissing at 3:27. Lunch will be free for all students for the 2021-2022 year due to a partnership with the USDA.  Bus times will be sent out separately.  Also, athletic season passes will be $40 for adults.  Senior citizen aged 55+ cost $15.  Students will continue to be admitted to home events at no charge.

Educating a student is a big job; we ask that you help us in order to do it well.  Please be sure your student comes to school each day rested and ready to learn.  Attendance and arriving on time are also important – we don’t want our students to miss any instructional time, so please make sure your student is here on time every day.

We are working hard to create a positive learning environment for your child.  In that order, we are looking for ways to make connections with our students.  Our teachers will be available during the mornings on staff Fridays to work with our students in different areas they may need some help, or to go further with some enrichment.  More detailed information will be available at Back to School night and in further correspondence.

I encourage you to stay in touch with your child’s teacher, or teachers, and with me if you have any questions during the school year.  Working together, we can make this a great year at Summit School District and I look forward to partnering with you this year to help your child learn.

Please join us for our Back-to-School night on Wednesday, August 11th, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  This is an excellent opportunity to see your student’s classroom and visit with teachers.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer vacation.  I look forward to seeing all of you!

Sincerely,

Mike Schmidt
